Group Tab
Learn how to create, delete, and manage groups.
Create and Handle
Groups in Feather are somewhat different from layers in 2D graphic software. Groups are used to categorize and manage your sketches.
Add New Group
Tap the plus button in the group tab to add a new group. The new group will be created directly above the current active group.
Active Group
Tap on a group and it will be highlighted in a slightly darker gray. This indicates the active group. All new sketches will be added to the currently active group. Creating multiple groups and managing sketches according to the active group makes it easier to manage sketches later.
Change Group Name
Double tap a group to change its name.
Focus Group
Tap the icon to the right of the group tab to switch to focus mode. In this mode, curves belonging to the active group are displayed in black, while others are shown in gray. This is useful when searching for specific sketches or curves. Tap again to exit this mode.
Group Visibility
Tap the eyeball icon on the far right of each group to toggle the visibility of that group. When a group is hidden, you cannot add new curves to it even if it is the active group.
Select and Organize
Let's learn about various group management tasks you can perform after selecting a group. You can rearrange, merge, and delete groups.
Tap and Hold to Select
Tap and hold a group to select it. You can select multiple groups by tapping another group while one is already selected. Tap a selected group again to deselect it, or escape by selecting another tool.
Delete Groups
While a group is selected, tap the trash can icon in the group tab to delete the group. Deleted groups can be undone if the history is still active.
Duplicate Groups
Tap the duplicate icon, which is right next to the trash can, while a group is selected to copy the group. The duplicated group is always created at the top of the group tab.
Merge Groups
Tap the merge icon, which is right next to the duplicate icon, while multiple groups are selected to merge the groups. When groups are merged, the original groups disappear and are combined into one new group, which is always created at the top of the group tab.
Tap and Drag to Reorder
Tap and drag a selected group to change the order of groups.
Import Curves into Another Group
Tap the arrow icon to the left of the group visibility icon while a group or some curves within a group are selected to import curves into that group. This feature is useful when you want to move curves to another group. Be careful not to confuse this as imported curves will also be invisible immediately if the group is hidden.
If you only want to select some curves or sketches within a group, see Select.
